The School of Mechanical Engineering Joins 2025 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Forum of Deans of Mechanical Disciplines and Delivers a Plenary Report

From June 13 to 15, the 2025 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Forum of Deans (Department Directors) of Mechanical Disciplines was successfully held in Tangshan, Hebei Province. With the theme of "Low-Carbon, Digital & Intelligent: Innovating the Future", the forum focused on key topics in the machinery industry, including digital transformation, green and low-carbon development paths, and the exploration and practice of university scientific research. It aimed to build a high-level academic exchange platform and collaborative innovation platform, striving to promote the field of mechanical engineering toward a new journey of high-quality development. Professor Li Wenhui, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering of our university, delivered a plenary report titled "Measures and Reflections on the School’s Scientific Research Work".

In his speech, Dean Li Wenhui elaborated on the "Pioneer Plan" implemented by our university. This plan includes 10 "action plans" and 100 key tasks covering Party building leadership, ideological and political education, undergraduate foundation strengthening, excellent graduate education, innovation and entrepreneurship quality improvement, scientific and technological advancement, discipline enhancement, faculty development, international communication, and governance optimization.

It consists of three sections: Action, Culture, and Ecosystem, forming a complete high-quality connotative development system that connects action to ideology, practice to culture, and internal construction to external development.

For the disciplinary development of the School of Mechanical Engineering, he emphasized taking frontier fields as breakthroughs, such as modern design and digital twins, new materials and advanced manufacturing, complete sets of equipment and production line systems, and intelligent detection and predictive maintenance. He also highlighted integrating scientific research platform resources, strengthening faculty team building, and tackling key major projects.

Additionally, he focused on introducing the innovation of university-enterprise cooperation models centered on the "Thousand Teams, Thousand Enterprises" initiative. By establishing special working groups for industry-education integration, interdisciplinary youth teams, and co-built industrial research institutes, the school promotes precise alignment between technology R&D and enterprise needs, injecting strong impetus into regional economic development.

The forum brought together nearly 200 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and enterprises in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It built an interactive exchange and cooperation platform for a wide range of scientific and technological workers in the field of mechanical engineering.
