To further promote academic exchanges in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, engineering mechanics and related interdisciplinary fields, and build a communication platform between high-level scientific research talents, teachers and students, the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University of Science and Technology successfully held the Boya Forum – A Special Academic Exchange Session for High-Level Talents in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in the College Academic Lecture Hall (12-301) from 14:00 to 17:00 on October 23, 2025.
With the theme of "Cutting-Edge Research on Mechanical and Engineering Science Innovation – Intelligent Diagnosis, Flow Control and Multi-Field Coupling Analysis", this forum specially invited four outstanding young doctoral scholars from Dalian University of Technology, Tianjin University and University of Science and Technology Beijing to give academic reports. They shared the latest research results in the fields of intelligent diagnosis, flow control and microfluidic detection respectively. More than 100 teachers and students of the college attended the forum, creating a warm on-site atmosphere and a strong academic environment.
At the beginning of the forum, Li Wenhui, Dean of the School, pointed out in his speech that the Boya Forum is a high-level academic brand activity created by the School of Mechanical Engineering. It aims to continuously promote interdisciplinary integration, facilitate in-depth exchanges among high-level talents, and support the dual improvement of the college's scientific research innovation and talent cultivation. As the second event in this series, this forum inherits the college's concept of "promoting research through learning and innovation through research" and reflects the university's strategic deployment of building a high-level research university.
Dr. Sun Bin from the major of Mechatronic Engineering at Dalian University of Technology gave a report titled "Intelligent Diagnosis and Health Management Methods for Rotating Machinery Based on Machine Learning", introducing his research progress in the intelligent operation and maintenance of large-scale rotating equipment. He discussed in depth the application of machine learning in fault identification and health assessment, providing new ideas for predictive maintenance of complex industrial equipment.
Dr. Fan Ziye from Tianjin University delivered a report focusing on "Active and Passive Flow Control Strategies in Complex Flow Fields". He systematically introduced his innovative achievements in the field of fluid mechanics and demonstrated the application potential of flow control in national defense equipment.
Dr. Yin Wenhao from Dalian University of Technology shared his research on "Multi-Field Coupling Detection and Diagnosis Based on Microfluidics and Intelligent Algorithms". He presented the innovative application of microfluidic sensors for liquid detection and field-effect transistor sensors in the detection of biological samples and heavy metal ions, which attracted great attention and enthusiastic discussions from teachers and students on site.
Dr. Zhang Jiehan from University of Science and Technology Beijing reported her research results in the field of reaction mechanism of all-hydrogen fluidized bed direct reduced iron and catalytic material development. Her exploration in thermodynamics/kinetics analysis, CFD simulation and catalytic material design provided important references for green metallurgy and energy conversion.
The successful holding of this Boya Forum – A Special Academic Exchange Session for High-Level Talents in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and Engineering Mechanics has further broadened the scientific research horizons of teachers and students in the college, built a high-end exchange platform for young scholars and scientific research teams, and injected new impetus into the college's scientific research cooperation and innovative development in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, fluid control and multi-field coupling analysis.
The School of Mechanical Engineering will continue to rely on the "Boya Forum" brand activity, invite more outstanding young scholars at home and abroad to gather together, share cutting-edge scientific research results, promote the interdisciplinary integration and high-quality development of mechanical and mechanics disciplines, and continuously contribute to the construction of a high-level research university.
