The School of Mechanical Engineering Conducts an Exchange Visit to FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.

On the morning of June 6, a five-member delegation from the School of Mechanical Engineering, including Li Jianyu (Secretary of the Party Committee), Li Wenhui (Dean), Li Ya (Vice Dean), and Professor Cui Shihai from the Department of Automotive Engineering, conducted an exchange visit to FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. They were warmly received by Xie Changgui (Minister of the Coating and Molding Department at FAW Toyota Tianjin Headquarters Factory), Xia Yan (Director of the Molding Division), Zhao Yanbo (Director of the Coating Division), and Zhang Jiawei (Member of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress, from the Coating and Molding Department).

Xie Changgui extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He gave a detailed introduction to the factory’s overview, production processes, and technical advantages in the automotive manufacturing field, and emphasized the company’s urgent demand for professional and technical talents as well as cutting-edge scientific research achievements.

Li Wenhui, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, introduced the school’s program offerings, discipline construction, and transformation of scientific research achievements. He stated that the school hopes to accurately align with industrial needs, optimize talent training programs, and enhance students’ practical and innovative capabilities through continuous exchanges with FAW Toyota. The two parties also discussed the establishment of talent training bases and students’ internship and practical training arrangements.

Accompanied by technical staff, the delegation visited FAW Toyota’s intelligent coating production line in depth. They observed core links on-site, such as the fully automated robotic arm spraying system and chassis gluing process. The technical staff explained in detail the material application, color mixing technology, quality inspection standards, and energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies in the coating process. The two parties also exchanged views on coating technology innovation, process optimization, and intelligent upgrading.

This visit has laid a solid foundation for further exchanges and cooperation between the School of Mechanical Engineering and FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Guided by the "Pioneer Plan", the school will continue to advance the "Thousand Teams and Thousand Enterprises Integration and Innovation" initiative, and ensure that university-enterprise cooperation, industry-education integration, and science-education integration yield tangible results.
