On October 16, 2025, the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University of Science and Technology successfully held the Boya Forum – A Special Academic Exchange Session for High-Level Talents in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in the College Academic Lecture Hall (12-301). With the theme of "Sharing Cutting-Edge Scientific Research Achievements and Academic Exchange Among High-Level Talents – Focusing on Innovative Development in Mechanical and Mechanics Fields", the forum specially invited 5 doctors from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing Institute of Technology and Dalian University of Technology to share their research results. It attracted teachers and students from the whole college to participate, creating a strong academic atmosphere on site.
In his opening speech, Li Wenhui, Dean of the School, mentioned that this forum is an important measure to implement the university's construction of a high-level research university, promote disciplinary innovation and build a talent exchange platform. It aims to help teachers and students connect with the frontiers of the field and accumulate strength for disciplinary development and talent cultivation.
At the forum, the 5 doctors shared their research around key directions:
Dr. Ni Yang from Dalian University of Technology analyzed the key technologies of automotive lightweight and the path of structural optimization;
Dr. Zhang Xianze from Beijing Institute of Technology introduced the innovative application of femtosecond laser in high-end manufacturing;
Dr. Xu Xu from Dalian University of Technology (jointly trained with Ruhr University Bochum, Germany) expounded the multi-scale modeling theory of structures and international cooperation experience;
Associate Researcher Pang Xuming from Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, CAS analyzed the equipment damage mechanism and laser protection solutions;
Dr. Wang Chao from Dalian University of Technology revealed the role of cancer cell mechanical properties in diagnosis and treatment.
After each doctor's sharing, teachers and students actively asked questions and communicated, leading to a lively interaction on site.
The successful holding of this Boya Forum – A Special Academic Exchange Session for High-Level Talents in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering and Engineering Mechanics not only brought an academic feast focusing on the frontiers of the field to teachers and students of the whole college and broadened their scientific research horizons, but also built a communication bridge between high-level talents and the college's teachers and students. It laid a solid foundation for subsequent disciplinary scientific research cooperation, talent introduction and academic innovation development. Taking this as an opportunity, the School of Mechanical Engineering will continue to build a high-quality academic exchange platform, promoting the scientific research innovation and talent cultivation in the fields of mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering and engineering mechanics to a new level.
